Good News, Bad News For 'Idol' Finalist Kristy Lee Cook

"American Idol " contestant Kristy Lee Cook yearned to make the competition's top five. She lost her spot on Wednesday's (4/16) results show but gained a fiancé. Her boyfriend, whom she only identified as "Andy," proposed to her in her apartment's sauna during her run on "Idol," and again Wednesday (4/16) on live television.

"The first time, we tried to keep everything on the down low, just because I didn't want it to get in the way, or I didn't want to be thinking about everything," Cook said during a Thursday (4/17) teleconference. "I just wanted to focus on music and 'American Idol,' so he re-enacted the proposal and actually got down on his knee this time. The first time he didn't, so he owed it to me."

"American Idol" was a rough go for Cook, repeatedly landing in the bottom three. However, it was particularly trying on Wednesday, she said. Host Ryan Seacrest split the "Idols" into two nondescript groups then swapped contestants so the bottom three were in one group.

"For this last time, it was definitely nerve-wracking because none of us knew what was going on and how they were separating the groups. And standing with David Cook, we didn't know if we were safe, or if we weren't safe. And we knew David Archuleta was still in the back, and it was just like a whole whirlwind of things going on, and we really didn't know. But it was definitely a shock for me to go home. I wish I wouldn't have left so soon. I wanted to make top five, but I am happy that Brooke's [White] still in the competition because she's one of my best friends."
