Wilco plots early 2010 outing
While soldiering through its current fall tour, Wilco has already started looking into the future, mapping a winter US/Canada trek for early 2010.
The band, which continues its current stretch tonight (10/9) in Dallas, kicks off next year's outing Feb. 7 in Missoula, MT. The 15-city jaunt travels through several Pacific Northwest cities--including a Winter Olympics-related Feb. 13 free show in Vancouver--before heading eastward through mostly Canadian territory. The tour finishes up March 3 in Nova Scotia.
Following the band's current outing, which winds down later this month, Wilco will head to Europe for a number of shows. Those dates are posted at the group's official website. Shows in the US and Canada are detailed below.
"Wilco (The Album)," the band's follow-up to 2007's "Sky Blue Sky," surfaced in late June on the Nonesuch label. The set, which includes Wilco's first-ever official duet ("You and I," recorded with Canadian singer Feist), debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 chart, a career-best for the band.
"Most of us are feeling that this record, this lineup, epitomizes Wilco," drummer Glenn Kotche said in an interview with LiveDaily this summer. "This is the longest it's ever been a steady lineup in Wilco. We're on our five years with this membership, which the other lineups hadn't even come close to that.
"You're getting a really nice, disparate mix of what we're capable of as a band and what we're interested in as a band," he added. "I think that's reflected in the new record."
Kotche's side-project with Dazzling Killmen bassist Darin Gray, dubbed On Fillmore, will release "Extended Vacation," the group's fourth studio album, in early November on the Dead Oceans label.
