Wes Borland says he's focusing on new band

On-again off-again Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland says he's finished with the group for the foreseeable future, and is dumping his energy into his new project, Black Light Burns.

"I currently have no plans of working with Limp Bizkit," Borland wrote in a blog entry posted at Black Light Burns's MySpace.com website. "All my future time has been allocated to Black Light Burns ... and other projects. 'Will I ever work with LB in the future?' Anything is possible, but that's not even on the radar at this point. Limp Bizkit is my past, and I care only about Black Light Burns right now, which is my future."

Borland described his remarks as the summation of a number of recent blog entries that he had posted in response to fan inquiries about his involvement with his former group, which he first left in 2001, then returned to the fold briefly for the 2005 EP "The Unquestionable Truth Part 1." During his absence, the group recorded a single album with former Snot guitarist Mike Smith.

"I did not like that Bizkit record I wasn't on," Borland wrote in an entry he posted earlier this month. "I didn't really like any other Bizkit record very much except '3 dollar bill' and I have never listened to one of our records after we finished it, and I couldn't care less about making another record with that band, and I don't care about Mike Smith."

Borland, whom many credit as the primary creative force behind Bizkit's musical success, cites his rocky relationship with Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst as his reason for again splitting with the group.

"Fred and I do not get along," he wrote. "We never have and we never will. I really like [bassist] Sam [Rivers] and [former House of Pain DJ] Lethal a lot and although I don't talk to them at all right now, I would think that I could pick up and be friends with them again at some point. And finally, [drummer] John [Otto] is distant and doing his own thing and nobody knows what that is. That's everything. That's the way it is. If you guys are going to keep being sentimental about all this LB stuff, and getting all butt-hurt about the fact that ["The Unquestionable Truth Part 2"] is NEVER coming out, could you please think before you start writing me hateful posts and all that nonsense. I've told you everything I know, and frankly I just don't care about LB at all."

Borland has been working on "Cruel Melody," the debut album from Black Light Burns. In addition to Borland--who has been handling vocals, guitars, bass, keyboards and programming--the lineup also features former Nine Inch Nails member Danny Lohner (producer, guitar, bass, keys, programming), Telefon Tel Aviv's Josh Eustis (engineer, programming, keys, sound design), and A Perfect Circle/Nine Inch Nails drummer Josh Freese.

The track listing for "Cruel Melody," as well as streaming-audio samples of several album demos, is posted at the band's MySpace.com website. A release date for the album hasn't been announced.

Meanwhile, Borland is extending an olive branch to Limp Bizkit fans.

"Why don't you guys come to Black Light Burns shows? All LB fans are invited and I promise we'll have a good time."
