Jam band Umphrey's McGee [ tickets ] has tacked a handful of November shows onto its in-progress US tour behind the recently released "Mantis" and added an interactive component to the run.

The Chicago-based rockers kicked off the outing in late August and continue the trek with an Oct. 21 show in Spokane, WA. Since last check, 11 dates have been added to the schedule, including a three-night run at South Burlington, VT's Higher Ground Ballroom. The itinerary, which is shown below, concludes with a New Year's Eve performance in Chicago.

Before the Oct. 24 concert in Portland, OR, Umphrey's McGee will host the Stew Art Series, an interactive fan experience where audience members text words, phrases and pop-culture references to the band's mobile interface, where they are then converted into improvised music by the group's members. The improvisational show, which occurs before the scheduled concert, debuted earlier this month in Milwaukee in front of a sold-out crowd.

Also on the books for the band: Caribbean Holidaze, a five-day cruise to Jamaica for music fans slated for Dec. 10-14. The Disco Biscuits, Perpetual Groove, Yacht Rock and more than a dozen others are also booked for the excursion, according to the event's website.

"Mantis," Umphrey McGee's fifth studio album, surfaced in January and marks the group's first collection of new material since 2007's "The Bottom Half."

In June, the outfit unveiled "Umphrey's McGee--Live," a new DVD featuring 13 songs performed during the group's 2007 set for PBS's "Soundstage." The high-definition production spans more than two hours and features two bonus tracks, including the "Mantis" cut "Made to Measure."
