Tommy Lee to judge best musicians with day jobs
Tommy Lee has been tapped as one of three judges for the upcoming Fortune Battle of the Corporate Bands competition, according to a press release. Lee will be joined at the judges table by musician/author Jeff Carlisi and "Making Music" magazine editor-in-chief Antoinett Follett for the Oct. 3 competition, which will be held at Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
The ninth annual Battle of the Corporate Bands, presented by NAMM and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, provides amateur, company-sponsored bands from across the US an opportunity to step out of the boardroom and onto the stage at the Rock Hall.
The eight qualifying bands, selected from 34 entries, include Aeroroot from Frontier Natural Products; Manage This from Symantec; Roland's Stones from Chevron; The S.A.P.'s from Johnson & Johnson; Slump from Oceanside Glasstile; The Mighty Electric St. Jude Band from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; Strat 5 from Healthways; and The Weasels from The Sunflower Group.
In a statement, the Motley Crue drummer said he was happy to be a part of the competition. "An amazing amount of talent exists across the country, and for people to come together in the workplace and express themselves in a different way proves what kind of power music has in elevating morale and bringing people together."
