Tokio Hotel recruits more American fans

German emo-rockers Tokio Hotel are returning to the US this month for a handful of dates around the East Coast.

The group, which was recently named Best New Artist at MTV's Video Music Awards, played nearly a dozen North American cities in August and will be back for another week's worth of shows starting Oct. 24 in Orlando, FL. The upcoming run has Tokio Hotel visiting Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York City and Columbus, OH. Details are listed below.

The bandmates--twin brothers Bill Kaulitz (vocals) and Tom Kaulitz (guitar), Gustav Schafer (drums) and Georg Listing (bass)--have garnered star status in Germany with nearly 3 million CDs and DVDs sold, according to their bio. Tokio Hotel formed in 2001 and the rockers recorded their first album when they ranged in age from 13 to 15 years old.

Now that they've graduated from theaters to arenas in Europe and have teenage girls crying at the mere sight of them, the musicians are tackling North America.

"It's always been a dream of ours to make it in the States," Bill Kaulitz said in a statement. "We grew up listening to American bands like Metallica, Green Day and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. We wanted to get a chance to do what they do."

Kaulitz sings in English for the first time on the band's US debut, "Scream," which surfaced in May and reached No. 39 on The Billboard 200. The set is actually a combination of hits from Tokio Hotel's German-language albums "Schrei" and "Zimmer 483," which were translated into English and re-recorded.

So far, "Scream" has spawned the US single "Monsoon," which cracked Billboard's Pop 100 Airplay chart and is currently holding steady at No. 72. A sample of that song and other tracks from the record are streaming at Tokio Hotel's website.
