They Might Be Giants map shows for young and old alike

Alt-rockers They Might Be Giants will play in front of both kids and adults next month as they drum up support for their latest children's-music album.

The duo of John Linnell and John Flansburgh continue their current trek tomorrow (10/31) in Dallas with an afternoon show for all ages. The band will play separate afternoon and evening shows in several cities, alternating between all-ages and adults-only audiences, sometimes on the same day. The month is capped by dual afternoon/evening shows Nov. 28 in Washington, DC, and Nov. 31 in Northampton, MA. Details are included below.

"Here Comes Science," the duo's fourth children's album, surfaced in September. Like the other entries in the series (last year's math-themed "Here Come the 123s" and 2005's "Here Come the ABCs") the new set was released as a dual CD/DVD, and includes music videos for each of the album's songs.

"The suggestion came from, I think, Rounder Records in the late '90s that we put together a kids record," multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Linnell told LiveDaily last year regarding the pair's decision to sart recording music for kids. "We were doing a lot of other stuff at that time. We were spending a lot of time in the studio. So it seemed kind of an efficient thing at that moment to write in a very loose and fun way, just kind of cook up a bunch of children's songs and then put that together and have them put it out."

The band's most recent release not aimed at kids is 2007's "The Else."
