Fresh off their biggest US tour to date, British pop-rockers The Kooks [ tickets ] have made plans to return to North America for an even more extensive fall outing.

The band, which is making the European festival rounds and performing a few Australian gigs this summer, is set to kick off an eight-week US and Canadian jaunt Sept. 4 in Clinton, NY. The Kooks will make their way from the East Coast to the West Coast, playing mostly all-ages shows through late October. Ticket pre-sales for the fall trek are currently under way through Ticketmaster (LiveDaily's parent company) and the general public will get its shot beginning this Friday (6/27).

The Kooks are supporting their sophomore effort, "Konk," which surfaced in April and entered The Billboard 200 at No. 41. So far, the set has spawned the modern-rock hit "Always Where I Need to Be" and The Kooks' new single, "Shine On," both of which are streaming at the band's MySpace page.

"Konk" was recorded late last year, primarily in Ray Davies' Konk Studios in north London. The set follows The Kooks' 2006 debut, "Inside In/Inside Out," which sold some 2 million copies worldwide on the strength of modern-rock hits including "Naive" and "She Moves in Her Own Way," according to a press release.

The Kooks formed in 2003 as part of a school project and were snapped up by Virgin Records following a four-song debut at Brighton's Free Butt. The quartet's members, all of whom are in their early 20s, have since written literally hundreds of songs, according to their bio.
