The Hold Steady lines up summer, fall dates
Alt-rockers The Hold Steady have lined up summer and early fall headlining dates as they continue to back their fourth studio album, "Stay Positive," which surfaced last year.
The Brooklyn-based crew kicks off the outing July 2 in Tampa, FL, before heading to a July 5 appearance at rural Michigan's Rothbury Festival. In September, the band heads north to Alaska for a Sept. 16 Anchorage show, followed be a six-city Canadian trek, capped with a Sept. 27 performance in Toronto. Details are included below.
On the road, The Hold Steady continues to support last year's "Stay Positive," which earned the Brooklyn-based quintet its best chart position to date: No. 30 on The Billboard 200. The lead single, "Sequestered in Memphis," is streaming at the band's MySpace page.
The record, produced by John Agnello (Son Volt, Dinosaur Jr.), came together while the The Hold Steady was touring the world behind 2006's critically lauded "Boys and Girls in America," according to the group's publicist. That outing saw the band play more than 200 shows in 2007 alone.
In April, the band released a dual CD/DVD live album and documentary, "A Positive Rage." The CD features the group's Halloween 2007 performance at the Metro nightclub in Chicago, while the DVD features backstage interviews, fan commentary and live footage.
