Avett Brothers search for 'Love' on road
Folk-rock trio The Avett Brothers have extended their current concert trek through the fall months as they look forward to the September release of their major-label debut.
The band--which consists of brothers Seth Avett (guitar) and Scott Avett (banjo), along with stand-up bass player Bob Crawford and touring cellist Joe Kwon--continues its current road trip Thursday (7/16) in St. Augustine, FL. The group's schedule consists of a mix of headlining and festival dates through the summer, followed by a run of nightclubs and small theaters this fall. Stops in about 50 cities remain on the itinerary, which runs through late October. Details are included below.
The tour will find the band supporting its first major-label release. Titled "I and You and Love," the set, which was sculpted in the studio by iconic producer Rick Rubin, is due in stores Sept. 29 on American Recordings, a subsidiary of Columbia.
Rubin--who signed the band to the record label--and the group worked on the album in Malibu, CA, and Asheville, NC. "They transcend the genres they're coming from," the producer told Rolling Stone magazine last March.
In late 2008, the Avetts released "The Second Gleam" EP, which debuted at No. 82 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The band's most recent full-length album is 2007's "Emotionalism," which debuted at No.1 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers Albums chart and No. 134 on The Billboard 200 album chart.
