STS9, Galactic headline Jam Cruise 8
The eighth installment of Jam Cruise will depart from Fort Lauderdale, FL, next January for a six-day floating festival featuring Sound Tribe Sector 9 , Zappa Plays Zappa, Galactic and Maceo Parker, among others.
Scheduled for Jan. 3-8 with stops planned in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, Jam Cruise 8 will allow music fans aboard the MSC Poesia all the comforts of a luxury cruise coupled with a backstage music experience. Rock-star karaoke, "Guitar Hero" competitions, autograph sessions and the like are sprinkled throughout the cruise's itinerary, along with traditional ship activities including bingo, gym classes and land excursions.
This year's ship features 1,275 cabins, nearly 400 more than 2008's MSC Orchestra, as well as a wine-tasting bar, cigar room, movie cinema, art gallery, Internet cafe, and more, according to the cruise's website. Rooms for the Jam Cruise, which has sold out for the past six years, go on sale June 4.
The extensive lineup also includes The Word, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Dark Star Orchestra, JJ Grey & Mofro, Railroad Earth, Steve Kimock's Crazy Engine, Lotus, Fantastic 4, Toubab Krewe, Eric Krasno & Chapter 2, The Motet, Trombone Shorty, Hot Buttered Rum, John Brown's Body, Kyle Hollingsworth Band, Mike Dillon's Go Go Jungle, The Mother Hips, Break Science, Dragon Smoke, Johnny Sketch & the Dirty Notes, George Porter Jr.'s Superjam, DJ Logic, Pretty Lights, Col.
