Contemporary Christian singer/songwriters Steven Curtis Chapman [ tickets ] and Michael W. Smith [ tickets ] will join forces this fall for a co-headlining run dubbed "The United Tour."

The duo is set to hit the road in early October and, so far, stops are planned in 15 cities through early November, all of which are set in the eastern half of the US. Details are included below.

Earlier this month, Chapman returned to the tour trail for the first time since the May 21 death of his 5-year-old daughter, Maria Sue, who was struck by a car driven by her teenage brother in the driveway of the family's home near Franklin, TN. Smith sang the opening song at a memorial service that took place a few days after the tragedy.

Maria Sue was one of Chapman's six children, and one of three adopted from China by Chapman and his wife, Mary Beth, who are both strong advocates of adoption. The couple started their own ministry, Shaohannah's Hope, to offer grants to qualified families wishing to adopt children from abroad. The organization has established a memorial fund in memory of Maria Sue. Details are available at the fund's webpage.

Chapman continues to tour behind his 16th studio album, "This Moment," which hit stores last October. It follows 2004's "All Things New," which peaked at No. 22 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Shortly after he hits the road with Chapman, Smith will offer up his forthcoming album, "A New Hallelujah," which is expected to surface in late October.

During Chapman's two decades in the music industry, he has won five Grammys and a record-breaking 51 Dove Awards. Smith, meanwhile, has racked up three Grammys and 34 Dove Awards.
