OK Go readies new material for March jaunt
Alt-rockers OK Go will preview material from their forthcoming new studio album during a brief coast-to-coast tour next month.
The group kicks off the outing March 6 in Philadelphia, crossing the country over the following three weeks and shutting things down March 28 in Seattle. Dates are below.
The band has recently been holed up in the studio working on the still-untitled album with Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, MGMT), and is angling for a June release date for the set, which OK Go described in a press release as the "danciest, most anthemic, most heartbroken, and most honest songs" of the group's career. Videos of the recording process are posted at OK Go's official website.
The new set, which will be the band's third full-length release, follows 2005's "Oh No," the group's most recent full-length studio effort, which was recorded in Malmo, Sweden, with Franz Ferdinand producer Tore Johansson behind the boards.
OK Go recently lent its time and talents to "You're Not Alone," a collaborative EP released last year with New Orleans brass band Bonerama to benefit Hurricane Katrina survivors in New Orleans' musical community. All proceeds from the digital release go to Sweet Home New Orleans, an organization dedicated to helping repatriate and support the thousands of local musicians who were scattered by Katrina, as well as building a new Habitat For Humanity home for Al "Carnival Time" Johnson, who has been forced to live in Houston, TX, since the hurricane, according to a press release.
