Nanci Griffith emerges with new album, tour and label
Singer/songwriter Nanci Griffith is set to drop a new album titled "Hearts in Mind" on Feb. 1, and will back the set with a winter tour.
The jaunt focuses on the West Coast in February, and three Colorado shows follow in March.
"Hearts in Mind" is Griffith's first studio album of original material since 2001's "Clock Without Hands." She self-produced the new set, the first time she's done so in her 15-album career.
In a press release, the new material is described as "an uncompromising, unflinching look at war and an ultimately hopeful look at love." It is "dedicated to the memory of every soldier and every civilian lost to the horrors of war."
Griffith wrote or co-wrote eight of the 13 tracks on "Hearts in Mind," which is her first for the newly formed Universal imprint New Door. She's backed on the set by The Blue Moon Orchestra, her longtime band.
