Morrissey brings 'Swords' stateside
Following a month-long European tour this fall, Morrissey with return to the States before year's end for a West Coast run behind his forthcoming b-sides release, "Swords."
The nine-city club and theater jaunt is short and sweet, kicking off Nov. 29 in Seattle and wrapping up Dec. 11 in Ventura, CA. Details are shown below.
The new string of dates supports Morrissey's forthcoming Nov. 3 release, "Swords," which collects b-sides that appeared on the 18 singles from his last four albums--1997's "Maladjusted," 2004's "You Are The Quarry," 2006's "Ringleader of the Tormentors," and this spring's "Years of Refusal." A rare guest appearance by The Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde on the track "Shame is the Name" made the record, as did a live version of David Bowie's "Drive-In Saturday."
According to a press release, a limited-edition version of "Swords" will include a bonus disc featuring eight live songs recorded earlier this summer in Warsaw, Poland.
"Years of Refusal," Morrissey's most recent set, which surfaced in February, marks the alt-rock icon's ninth solo album and the first with his new label, Decca Records. The late Jerry Finn (AFI, Bad Religion) produced the album, which was recorded in Los Angeles in December 2007. Finn suffered a cerebral hemorrhage not long after the record's completion and died last August at the age of 39.
