Miley Cyrus silences her Tweets

Miley Cyrus has stopped Tweeting and has deleted her Twitter page. What would cause the teen pop star, who was a frequent and prolific Tweeter, to stop her almost constant updates? A guy, of course, according to People.com.

In a Tweet that apparently referenced Australian actor Liam Hemsworth, her rumored love interest, Cyrus said, "FYI Liam doesn't have a Twitter and he wants ME to delete mine with good reason." (Cyrus and Hemsworth recently co-starred in "The Last Song," which also stars Kelly Preston and Greg Kinnear.)

Cyrus's current public followers--1,159,317 according to Twitter--received the abrupt news Thursday (10/8) upon visiting her account: "This account's updates are protected--request to follow." The Twitter account of the "Hannah Montana" star's mom also has been deleted, according to People. But fans of the Cyrus clan can get their fix by following sister Brandi and brother Trace, who reportedly continue to Tweet.

Fans longing for the real deal have rallied, making #mileycomeback Twitter's top trending topic.

For those who didn't follow Miley's every Tweet, recent updates included information about how bad she felt for missing recent concerts, what movies she watched while home sick, what kind of Halloween costume she wanted and how much she enjoyed eating "take away" dinner in bed while recovering.

Cyrus' final public Tweet read: "I'm the happiest I've ever been & for that my family's SO grateful. So for LAME bloggers that don't know what they're talking about SHUT UP!" That comment apparently refers to reports that claim Billy Ray Cyrus is not happy with his 16-year-old daughter's friendship with the 19-year-old Hemsworth.

Other than the hinting Tweets, there has been no official reason for Miley's sudden decision to stop the micro-blogging service.
