Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman unite once again

Contemporary Christian stars Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman will team up again this spring for another round of dates on their "United Tour."

The outing currently spans 24 US cities from coast to coast, starting March 28 in Chattanooga, TN, and wrapping April 30 in Paducah, KY. Stops in between include Cleveland; Baltimore; Nashville; Springfield, MO; Utica, NY; Norfolk, VA; Sioux City, IA; and four cities across California. The full schedule is listed below.

Smith and Chapman launched the "United Tour" last fall, played 20 major markets to a cumulative audience of more than 50,000 and sold out 14 shows, according to a press release. In addition to bringing their talents together on stage, the multi-platinum-selling artists joined their ministries to recruit sponsors for more than 2,000 orphaned children around the world.

Between the two of them, Chapman and Smith have scored eight Grammy Awards, 96 Dove Awards, 77 No. 1 singles and more than 30 gold and platinum album certifications, according to a press release.

Smith is supporting his 21st recording, "A New Hallelujah," which surfaced in October, topped the Christian & Gospel Albums chart and reached No. 19 on The Billboard 200. The set, Smith's third all-worship effort, was recorded live last summer before an audience of 12,000. It features the 25-member African Children's Choir and a special guest appearance by Grammy Award winner Israel Houghton. A DVD version of "A New Hallelujah" is due March 17.

Smith has his own tour dates around the "United" trek, and he'll be in Nashville tonight (2/2) to celebrate his induction to the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame. The singer's full itinerary is posted at his website.

Last fall's "United Tour" marked Chapman's return to the road following the tragic death of his 5-year-old daughter, Maria Sue, who was accidentally struck by a car driven by her teenage brother. The performer continues to back his 16th studio album, 2007's "This Moment," which topped the Christian & Gospel Albums chart. He also has a few of his own concerts surrounding dates with Smith. Those can be found at Chapman's website.
