Maxwell fills out run behind 'BLACKsummers'night'
Maxwell has tacked a handful of shows onto the tail end of his forthcoming fall arena tour behind his fourth studio set, "BLACKsummers'night."
Since last check, the R&B musician has added concerts in North Little Rock, AR (10/10); Memphis, TN (10/20); New Orleans (10/21); and Baltimore (10/23). The month-long, 18-city outing kicks off with a Sept. 25 performance in Toronto. The full schedule is below.
Common and Chrisette Michele are slated for opening duties on the tour.
In July, Maxwell's most recent release, "BLACKsummers'night," debuted atop The Billboard 200. The new record, his first new material since 2001's "Now," is also the first installment in a planned trilogy, with "BlackSUMMERS'night" and "Blacksummers'NIGHT" slated for release in 2010 and 2011, respectively, according to a press release.
"Sometimes I can't believe I do this because you're living your life--going to the corner store, taking out the garbage and the next thing you know you're on stage at Radio City Music Hall," Maxwell said in a message posted at his website. "It's such a humbling thing and you'd think it would make my ego go out of control but I feel humility."
Last month, the Los Angeles Times added Maxwell to its 2010 Grammy watch list; the official nominees for the 2010 Grammy Awards will be announced in December.
