Living Colour closes out 2005 on the road
Living Colour , which two years ago issued its first new album in a decade, has lined up a December tour of the U.S. club and theater circuit, and is readying its first concert DVD.
The group launches the run Dec. 2 in Buffalo, NY, and is scheduled to wrap up in its home base of New York City on Dec. 15. In between, the tour will touch down in cities throughout the East and Midwest. Details are shown below.
In addition to gearing up for more roadwork, Living Colour is in post-production on a live DVD that features footage shot during a 2004 performance in South America. The group expects to release the set early next year, according to a spokesperson.
Living Colour continues to tour behind its October 2003 release, "Collideoscope," its first new studio set since 1993's "Stain." The band--guitarist Vernon Reid, drummer Will Calhoun, singer Corey Glover and bassist Doug Wimbish--started work on the album after several rounds of touring that followed a December 2000 reunion performance at New York City's CBGB's. That show came about after Calhoun--who decided that he didn't want to be "sitting around with regret at age 60," according to a statement--phoned Reid and invited him to sit in with Headfake, a drum-and-bass side project that occasionally featured Glover.
In 1988, Living Colour burst onto the scene with the hit single "Cult of Personality," from its double-platinum debut, "Vivid." The song peaked at No. 9 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in May of 1989, and went on to win a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance.
The group followed that success with 1990's "Time's Up," and snagged its second Best Hard Rock performance Grammy for the album's title track.
"Stain" followed in 1993, and work had just begun on a fourth LP when Reid announced that he was pursuing other interests, and that the group was disbanding.
