Joss Stone heads back to the US this fall
British soul singer/songwriter Joss Stone has just a few more North American shows left before she heads back to Europe for the summer festival season, but US fans need not worry: late-summer dates are starting to trickle in.
The 20-year-old performer, who began a tour of the US and Canada in April, will wrap things up mid-month following gigs in Montreal; New York City; Boston; Vienna, VA; and Fort Lauderdale, FL. She'll make her way back to the US in August with shows booked so far in Utah, Colorado, Oregon, Nevada, Texas and Illinois. Details are listed below.
Stone has been supporting her March release, "Introducing Joss Stone," which is the singer's third album but the first that she says expresses her true musical vision.
"This is the first album I've made that is truly me," Stone said in a statement. "That's why I'm calling it 'Introducing Joss Stone.' These are my words, and this is who I am as an artist."
The set, which peaked at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart, was produced by Raphael Saadiq (D'Angelo, The Roots), whom Stone has called "the most mind-blowing musician I've ever met in my whole life."
Audio and video for the first two singles, "Tell Me 'Bout It" and "Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now" featuring Common, are streaming at Stone's website.
The Grammy-winning singer was just 16 when she emerged on the music scene in 2003 with her debut EP, "The Soul Sessions," which comprised covers of obscure soul tracks. Stone followed that with 2004's "Mind, Body & Soul," her first set of original material.
