Jason Aldean leads CMT tour
Country Music Television has tapped Jason Aldean to headline this fall's "CMT On Tour '08."
The theater/arena outing, which kicks off Oct. 8 in Cullowhee, NC, will also feature reigning ACM Top New Group Lady Antebellum and newcomer Eric Durrance. The artists are set to visit 20 cities primarily in the eastern half of the US through late November. Details are listed below.
The first round of tickets will be available beginning Aug. 22. Further information is available at the tour's website.
Aldean makes his move into headlining larger venues after years of honing his stage show in bars and clubs across the Southeast.
"It is such a surreal feeling to look behind the bus and see semi trucks with my name on them," the performer said in a statement. "Even as this thing grows, our fans are the same young kids that have always come out to the club shows. They come to forget about school or work or whatever and have a good time, so that's what we are going to give them!"
Aldean, who blends traditional country with southern rock, is supporting his sophomore effort, "Relentless," which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart last summer. The set has spawned hit singles "Johnny Cash," "Laughed Until We Cried" and the title track, all of which are streaming at the Georgia native's MySpace page.
Aldean launched his "Relentless Tour" early this year and is currently playing a host of fairs and festivals through the start of the CMT outing. His full touring schedule can be found at his website.
Lady Antebellum is also tearing up the road to support its self-titled debut, which surfaced in April and topped the country albums chart. The trio's full itinerary is listed at its website.
