Florida rocks with benefit concerts

Two upcoming concert festivals in Florida will feature hundreds of national and regional acts to help raise money and awareness for various organizations.

Against Me! , KRS One, The National , GZA, Bad Brains, Girl Talk and Less Than Jake are among the many acts scheduled to appear at the 2009 Harvest of Hope Fest March 6-8 at St. Johns County Fairgrounds in St. Augustine, FL, according to a press release.

The music and arts festival was designed to benefit and raise awareness for Harvest of Hope, a non-profit that provides financial, educational, and service-oriented aid to migrant farm workers across the country, according to organizers.

In addition to the previously mentioned acts, Tokyo Police Club, Murs, Hamell On Trial, After the Fall, The Bouncing Souls, Lucero and The Gaslight Anthem are among the extensive list of acts joining the Harvest of Hope lineup. Previously booked acts Broken Social Scene, Devotchka, the Faint and the Virgins will no longer be performing at the Fest.

In April, the 3rd annual Rock By The Sea benefit concert on St. George Island, FL, will feature Corey Smith , Wideawake, Sam Thacker and Heather Lutrell, among others. The event will be held April 23-26 at Harry A's.

Rock By The Sea's 2009 beneficiaries include the Pediatric Brain Tumor Program at Shands HealthCare in Gainsville, Lyrics for Life, Franklin County Humane Society and Franklin's Promise, according to a press release.
