The collaborative efforts of promoters Noise Pop and Another Planet Entertainment have again succeeded in producing one of the most unique music events on the West Coast: the 2nd annual Treasure Island Music Festival.

This year's gathering not only featured a dynamic lineup of bands, but also plenty of dynamic technology. Green options were employed at nearly every turn: solar powered stages, bio-diesel shuttle buses and generators, and the ever popular TRASHed Recycling Store, which exchanges water bottles, plastic cups and other recyclable items for various prizes and goodies. Their goal, of diverting at least 80% of all waste to recycling and composting is not yet official, but since last year it was 72%, one can assume they hit the mark.

Attendees of the two-day festival were treated to music from an eclectic choice of bands: Justice , TV on the Radio , Hot Chip , Raconteurs, Goldfrapp , Dr. Dog , Spiritualized , Tegan and Sara , The Kills and Tokyo Police Club , to name a few.

Icing on the cake was the giant Ferris wheel, giving riders perhaps one of the most beautiful and panoramic views of a lifetime from 60 feet above the ground.

LiveDaily’s Tim Mosenfelder was there and took photos of some of the action.
