Diana Krall expands 'Quiet Nights' outing

With a Canadian tour now behind her, Diana Krall is focusing on her impending US trek behind "Quiet Nights," and has added a handful of new shows to the three-month run.

Beginning Friday (6/5) in Waterbury, CT, the Grammy Award-winning singer/pianist will canvas the nation backed by a full orchestra for nine of the performances and by a quartet for the remaining 40 dates. Highlights include two-night stands at New York City's Carnegie Hall, Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl (8/21-8/22) and two California wineries in Saratoga (8/18-8/19) and Woodinville (8/29-8/30). Details are shown below.

Following the US portion of the tour, Krall will head to Europe in mid-September for a lengthy two-month outing that wraps up Thanksgiving Day (11/26).

The ongoing roadwork is in support of "Quiet Nights," the Canadian-born musician's 12th studio album, which hit shelves in March.

"It's not coy. It's not 'peel me a grape,' little girl stuff," the performer said about the album on her website. "I feel this album's very womanly--like you're lying next to your lover in bed whispering this in their ear."

According to Krall's bio, the Tommy LiPuma-produced studio effort was inspired by Brazil--the home of the bossa nova.

"I was inspired to do this record because of my trip last year to Brazil," Krall said on her website. "Then I just kept going back and found that everywhere you go you still hear the sounds of Jobim and bossa nova."

The singer spent time in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to film a concert for an upcoming DVD release.
