Chris Botti stretches tour well into 2010
Jazz/pop trumpeter Chris Botti has added new dates to his long itinerary, which currently stretches into mid-May.
Botti, who has been on the road regularly since last fall, continues the North American tour with an Oct. 16 performance in Clearwater, FL. Since last check, the Portland, OR, native has tacked another 22 stops onto the forthcoming outing, which is currently set to crisscross the nation through a May 15 concert in Worcester, MA. The schedule is outlined below.
Botti will close out the year and ring in 2010 with an intense three-week, twice-nightly residency at New York City's Blue Note.
"Italia," Botti's most recent studio set, which surfaced last December, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Jazz Albums chart and earned a Grammy nomination for best Pop Instrumental Album. The collection, which features guest vocalists including Andrea Bocelli and Paula Cole, was inspired by the romance of Italy.
Last fall, Botti performed alongside the Boston Pops and an array of musicians, including Sting, Josh Groban, Steven Tyler and Yo-Yo Ma. The two-night event was recorded, filmed and released in March as both an audio disc and a CD/DVD combo dubbed "Chris Botti in Boston." The concert also aired during PBS-TV's annual spring pledge drive.
