Celtic Woman adds new US dates to schedule

Irish vocal group Celtic Woman has ordered up a new batch of US tour dates for fall, supplementing the more than 70 shows the all-female outfit has already tallied this year.

The new dates--which bring the total of shows on the group's ongoing "Isle of Hope Tour" to more than 100--kick off Oct. 7 in Waukegan, IL, and runs through late fall, concluding with a Nov. 22 show in Long Beach, CA. Dates are shown below.

Tickets for many of the upcoming shows go on sale Aug. 24. See the group's website for details.

The vocal quintet is supporting its current best-of release, "The Greatest Journey: Essential Collection." Recorded under the musical direction of David Downes, the set gathers material from the group's previous releases, along with four new songs ("The Call," "Pie Jesu," "Ave Maria" and "You Raise Me Up"). The LP follows 2007's CD/DVD combo "Celtic Woman: A New Journey," which was filmed at Slane Castle in Ireland, and captures the ensemble's second on-stage production.

In June, the group released a new tune as a digital download and ringtone. "O, America!," penned by Brendan Graham and William Joseph, was performed extensively throughout the first half of the ensemble's 2009 US tour.

"'O, America!' is a dedication to you to thank you for being the first country to embrace us as Celtic Woman," group member Chloe Agnew said in a message posted at the act's official blog. "We feel as though we are part of your family now and for that we are very honored and proud. You are our true inspiration!"

The group currently comprises vocalists Agnew, Lisa Kelly, Alex Sharpe and Lynn Hilary along with fiddle player Mairead Nesbitt. In addition to recording with Celtic Woman, each of the members has released her own solo album.
