Broken Social Scene sets late-year tour plans
Canadian rock collective Broken Social Scene will bring its ever-changing lineup to the US this fall for another round of tour dates.
The Toronto ensemble, which orbits around core members Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning, will kick off its late-year outing Oct. 18 in Millvale, PA, the first of 20 scheduled dates as the group continues to back its most recent studio effort, a self-titled album released late in 2005.
Fellow Canadian indie-rockers Do Make Say Think, whose most recent album was 2003's "Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn," will tag along on the trek and add opening support.
Broken Social Scene's self-titled third album, which features the entire Social Scene network-- including members of Stars, Apostle of Hustle, Metric, Feist, Do Make Say Think, Raising the Fawn and The Dears--was recorded and produced last year by David Newfield at Toronto's Stars and Sons studio.
The first pressing of the release included a 7-track EP, entitled "To Be You and Me," which is now available for purchase on vinyl and also as a digital download.
The band formed in 1999 when Drew and Canning, former bandmates in indie act By Divine Right, formed a loose collective of Toronto-area musicians. The group released its debut album, "Feel Good Lost," in 2001.
