Bon Iver gives 'Blood' on fall outing
Indie folk-rockers Bon Iver will return to the road this fall for a run of US headlining dates as the group continues to support January's "Blood Bank" EP.
Spearheaded by its sole permanent member, singer/songwriter Justin Vernon, the band is scheduled to launch the 10-city tour--which mostly focuses on Western US venues--Sept. 19 in Omaha, NE. Details are included below.
The group's debut album, "For Emma, Forever Ago," became a common sight on critics' year-end "best albums" lists. Originally self-released by the band in late 2007, "For Emma, Forever Ago" was eventually picked up for wider release by the Jagjaguwar label in February of last year.
A couple of tracks from "For Emma, Forever Ago" are streaming at Bon Iver's MySpace page.
In January, the group released the "Blood Bank" EP, which included three new tracks and the title song, which was written for the previous album but left off the set. The EP entered The Billboard 200 at No. 16, selling about 23,000 copies its first week.
Vernon recently joined with a group of fellow Wisconsinites billing themselves as Collections of Colonies of Bees in a new collaboration, Volcano Choir. The group's first project, "Unmap," is due in stores Sept. 22.
