On the road, Dylan and his regular backing group continue to support "Together Through Life," his 33rd studio set, which surfaced in April.
On the album, Dylan's touring group was supplemented by David Hidalgo of Los Lobos and guitarist Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
"He's good with me," Dylan said of Campbell in an interview published on Dylan's website. "He's been playing with Tom for so long that he hears everything from a songwriter’s point of view and he can play most any style."
"Together Through Life" debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200, making it Dylan's fifth record to take the top spot.
Next month, the veteran performer will also unveil a new collection of classic holiday songs titled "Christmas In the Heart." All future royalties from the album, which is due in stores Oct. 13, will benefit Feeding America, which provides meals to the hungry during the holiday season.
"It's a tragedy that more than 35 million people in this country alone--12 million of those children--often go to bed hungry and wake up each morning unsure of where their next meal is coming from," Dylan said in a message posted at his website. "I join the good people of Feeding America in the hope that our efforts can bring some food security to people in need during this holiday season."
Editor's note: This story was edited on 10/1 to clarify that Mike Campbell and David Hidalgo played on "Together Through Life." They are not part of Dylan's current touring group.
