Beyonce postpones Malaysian concert

Beyonce 's on-again, off-again concert in Malaysia has been postponed, according to a Billboard report.

The concert, scheduled for Oct. 25 at a Kuala Lumpur stadium, has been facing criticism by Islamic conservatives since it was announced. The Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, the country's largest opposition group, has encouraged the cancellation of the show, claiming it would promote "Western sexy performances."

However, a spokesperson for the concert promoter said the postponement was solely the decision of Beyonce and had nothing to do with "other external reasons," according to Billboard.

Last month, the concert was said to be going forward after all parties came to an amicable understanding about Beyonce's stage costumes; female artists at Malaysian concerts are required by government rules to cover up from the shoulders to the knees, with no cleavage showing.

Beyonce also canceled a planned performance in Malaysia in 2007 following protest threats by the opposition Islamic party. However, the official reason for that cancellation was "a scheduling conflict."
