Barenaked Ladies frontman survives plane crash

Ed Robertson, frontman for Canadian pop-rock outfit Barenaked Ladies , walked away unharmed after a float-plane crash in southeastern Ontario yesterday (8/24).

"As we're sure many have heard already, Ed and three passengers were involved in a plane crash yesterday," the group wrote in a message posted at its website today. "We just want to let all of our fans know that, thankfully, everyone on board was completely unharmed . Thank you to all those who have already reached out and sent their kind words and well wishes."

According to the Canadian Press, Robertson's private plane lost speed while trying to take off from Baptiste Lake near Bancroft and crashed into some trees at the western end of the lake.

It's been an eventful summer for BNL; last month, singer/guitarist Steven Page was arrested in upstate New York and charged with fourth-degree possession of a controlled substance after police allegedly found him and two other women in an apartment where cocaine and marijuana were present. He reportedly is scheduled to appear in a New York court tomorrow (8/26).
