Amy Winehouse cleared of fan assault

Amy Winehouse was found not guilty today (7/24) of assaulting a burlesque dancer at a London charity ball last fall.

The British songstress was accused of hitting Sherene Flash in the face backstage at the Prince's Trust Ball in London's Berkeley Square last September. Flash had requested a photo with Winehouse, who denied the assault at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court.

"The two accounts are irreconcilable and I have had therefore to examine carefully the evidence of other witnesses," District Judge Timothy Workman said in a press release.

The judge also revealed that according to the evidence, all but two witnesses in the trial were drunk at the time of the alleged assault.

Winehouse, who just last week was granted a divorce from Blake Fielder-Civil after a tumultuous two-year marriage, bowed out of a scheduled appearance at Coachella earlier this year due to the assault charge.
