'American Idol' gives back again

" American Idol " will be hosting its third "Idol Gives Back" event April 21 during the Top 7 results show, according to the "A.I." website. The Emmy Award-winning musical event will raise awareness and funds to benefit several US and international charities, including the Children's Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children's US Programs and the United Nations Foundation.

This year's television special will feature performances and appearances by some of Hollywood's biggest stars. Previous guest appearances have included President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and former President George W. Bush.

Brad Pitt, Bono, Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Annie Lennox, Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Josh Groban, Pink, Robin Williams and Ben Stiller also have participated in the "Idol Gives Back" fundraisers.

To date, "Idol Gives Back" has raised more than $140 million for various charitable organizations, according to a press release.
