'A Very Special Christmas' features crop of young talent

Carrie Underwood , Miley Cyrus , Colbie Caillat , Vanessa Hudgens and Kellie Pickler are among the acts featured on this year's "A Very Special Christmas" CD, which is set for release on Nov. 24, according to a press release. Volume 7 of the annual holiday album, which once again will benefit Special Olympics, also includes songs by Ashley Tisdale, Sean Kingston, Leighton Meester, Carter Twins, Charice, Kristina DeBarge, Gloriana and Mitchel Musso.

"This is a fantastic Christmas record created by and for a new generation that wants to make the world a better place," Special Olympics Chairman/CEO Timothy Shriver said in a statement. "The songs on 'A Very Special Christmas Volume 7' have all the freshness and energy of the talented artists who recorded them. Through the spirit of their musical performances, these young recording stars bring the same passion and dedication to Special Olympics that our athletes display every day of their lives."

The first edition of the charitable holiday album, released in 1987, sold one million copies. The subsequent albums in the series, which have featured some of the most influential artists of the time, have raised more than $100 million for Special Olympics. Previous contributors to the annual Christmas release include U2, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Eric Clapton, Madonna, Sting, Reba McIntyre, No Doubt, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Mary J. Blige, among many others.
