Scott Stapp snags guest spot on INXS tour
Former Creed frontman Scott Stapp will log another round of live performances behind his debut solo album, last year's "The Great Divide," as the show-opener on INXS 's upcoming North American trek.
INXS launches the run this weekend, but plans call for Stapp to sign on from the tour's May 19 stop in Cleveland through its late-June finale. Details are included below.
"Everything now--my band, my life, my health--is in the best shape since [Creed's 1997 debut, 'My Own Prison'] and I'm truly excited to be part of such a great summer tour," Stapp said in a statement.
Fans can expect to hear cuts from "The Great Divide," as well as some hits from Creed's catalog.
Since the November release of "The Great Divide," Stapp has made headlines more for his personal life than for his music.
Late last year, rock-reggae outfit 311 alleged that Stapp had started a barroom brawl with several 311 members. (Stapp disputed 311's account of the incident, claiming the band started in on him first.)
Stapp's woes continued earlier this year when, three days after wedding his second wife, Miss New York USA 2004 Jacyln Nesheiwat, he was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport and booked on public intoxication charges after allegedly behaving belligerently before boarding a flight to Hawaii.
Most recently, Stapp popped up on the public's radar when an amateur videotape that allegedly shows the singer and Detroit rap-rocker Kid Rock engaging in sex acts with several women surfaced. The two musicians have since won a temporary court order blocking sale of the video.
Stapp and the other members of Creed broke up June of 2004. Guitarist Mark Tremonti and drummer Scott Phillips, as well as original Creed bassist Brian Marshall--who split with the group in 2000--teamed with former Mayfield Four singer Myles Kennedy to form Alter Bridge, which released its debut set in 2004.
