James Taylor expands concert slate

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer James Taylor is continuing his round of stripped-down theater gigs through May, when he'll be performing for audiences in the Northeast.

As he did during his March and April shows, Taylor will perform his "One Man Band" tour on guitar with only one backing musician, keyboardist Larry Goldings.

Taylor is also scheduled to perform at a May 19 Rainforest Foundation Fund benefit show at New York's Carnegie Hall. Sheryl Crow, Billy Joel, and Lenny Kravitz are also scheduled to appear, along with other guests.

Meanwhile, Taylor continues to add stops to his summer schedule, which now includes appearances at three fairs. His summer shows are expected to feature a full band.

Taylor's most recent album of all-new material is 2002's "October Road." A holiday set titled "James Taylor: A Christmas Album"--sold exclusively at Hallmark retail outlets--followed last year.

Billboard reported in February that Taylor has begun work on a new studio album, but no release date has been scheduled.
