Snow Patrol has its 'Eyes Open' for US tour
Following its current European roadtrip, British rockers Snow Patrol will head across the pond for a month-long run through the states that supports the group's forthcoming album, "Eyes Open."
The US outing launches in late May, and stops are lined up in about 20 cities. Details are included below.
The stateside outing follows the May 9 release of "Eyes Open," Snow Patrol's fourth album, and the follow-up to 2004's "Final Straw." The new disc features the cut "You're All I Have, the video for which is streaming at Snow Patrol's website.
Fans who catch the group during the upcoming tour can expect to hear a setlist heavy on material from "Eyes Open," if a note about the group's just-launched Euro outing that frontman Gary Lightbody recently posted at the band's website is any indication.
"There is something which I know a lot of you are thinking about," he wrote. "Old songs. By that I mean songs from the first two records. I know some of you are annoyed that we're neglecting them a bit. We will definitely be playing three or four old songs at [our upcoming London show]. This may not seem like much to some of you who have been following us for many years. The fact is we want you to hear the new record. We want to play a lot of songs from it. Around the world so far we've been playing nothing [from our previous albums except] 'Final Straw' and 'Eyes Open.' And the new stuff is going down as well as 'Final Straw' as far as we can tell."
Last month, Snow Patrol tackled a mini-tour of the US that included a performance at the annual SXSW festival in Austin, TX.
In addition to Lightbody, Snow Patrol--formerly a quartet--also features original members Nathan Connolly (guitar) and Jonny Quinn (drums), as well as new members Paul Wilson (bass) and Tom Simpson (keys/programming). Wilson replaced original bassist Mark McClelland, whom the group split with last year.
