Briefly: George Jones, Black Rob, Allison Moorer, Styx
Country great George Jones , who was hospitalized Thursday (3/30) to undergo pneumonia treatment, has been released from the hospital and is now "resting comfortably" at his Nashville home, according to his label, Bandit Records.
The singer, who is in his mid-'70s, had performances scheduled last weekend in Albany, GA; Panama City, FL; and Chattanooga, TN, all of which are being rescheduled according to Bandit.
Rapper Black Rob (Robert Ross) has drawn a seven-year prison sentence in connection with a 2004 robbery in a New York City hotel.
Black Rob reportedly was seen on a hotel security camera with a robbed woman's purse, which reportedly contained more than $6,000. He was sentenced to a two-to-six year jail term late last year, but failed to report for his January sentencing. Police caught up with him in February.
"Getting Somewhere," the sixth album from singer/songwriter Allison Moorer , is due in stores on June 13.
Steve Earle --who married Moorer in August--produced the set.
Styx will team with Cleveland's Contemporary Youth Orchestra for their May 25 concert appearance at the Cleveland area's Blossom Music Center.
The show will mark Styx's first show with an orchestra since 1996.
"The idea of Styx performing with a teenage symphony--a 115 piece orchestra with a 40 member choir, all between the ages of 13 and 19, has been electrifying to us ever since we were invited by them several months ago," Styx's Tommy Shaw said in a press release. "If this isn't evidence of the importance of music education, I don't know what is."
