Slayer's 'Unholy Alliance' tour grows

Metal veterans Slayer , who are currently in the studio working on a new album, have added more dates to their upcoming "The Unholy Alliance" tour.

Since announcing the tour in early March, the group has penciled in shows in Denver; Cincinnati; Corpus Christi, TX; Dallas; Atlanta; Cleveland; Quebec City; Montreal; Toronto; Winnipeg; Edmonton; and Vancouver, British Columbia, and has also added a second night to its previously announced stop in Salem, OR.

The seven-week trek--which will also feature Lamb of God , Children of Bodom , Mastodon and Thine Eyes Bleed --is scheduled to launch June 6 (6/6/06) in San Diego. Ticket prices won't exceed $39, according to a press release. Confirmed shows are below, and more shows will be announced.

Headliners Slayer plan to make the tour "an annual global event," band manager Rick Sales said in a press release.

Slayer's four original members--Tom Araya (bass/vocals), Kerry King (guitar), Jeff Hanneman (guitar) and Dave Lombardo (drums)--are at work on their first new album together since 1990's "Seasons in the Abyss." Super-producer Rick Rubin is the project's executive producer, and Josh Abraham (Korn, Velvet Revolver) is producing the set.

The as-yet-untitled disc is expected to surface on Rubin's American Recordings label this fall, but a specific release date hasn't been announced.

Lombardo--who has joined and left the group on a few occasions--has been playing live with the band since its tour behind 2001's "God Hates Us All." The group began work on the forthcoming album after wrapping up its most recent North American tour in September 2004.
