Radiohead to tour the US, Canada in June
Experimental alt-rockers Radiohead plan to debut some new material during a brief May tour of Europe, and will follow up in June with a run through the US and Canada.
Among the band's North American stops will be a previously announced June 17 set at Tennessee's Bonnaroo Festival, but a full itinerary hasn't been released. The European itinerary--which is posted at the band's website--includes stops in Copenhagen, Amsterdam and London, among other cities. Additional European dates--including Budapest, Dublin and Paris--are planned for August.
According to a press release issued Tuesday (3/21), the upcoming shows will mark fans' first opportunity to hear some of the new material the band is currently working on in the studio.
"We're excited to be touring again, especially to play new songs to an audience," the group said in a statement. "For the first time, we have no contract or release deadline to fulfill--it's both liberating and terrifying. To keep things more fun and spontaneous, we will be playing new songs that are work in progress. We will also be releasing music to download when we are excited about it, rather than wait months for a full-blown album release. Music's not just about all-time greats--it's also a document of its time, and we want to be able to put out a song when it feels right."
