Roger Waters Plans To Blanket U.S. On June And July Tour
Roger Waters will tour U.S. arenas and outdoor amphitheaters in June and July, according to his booking agent. The tour will be a continuation of 1999's "In the Flesh" tour, rather than present a new stage show or new music, the agent said.
According to Columbia Records and the Roger Waters website, the new tour will start in the South and then cover Southwest, West, Northwest and Eastern cities. Specific dates and venues have not been announced.
Last year's tour, which covered 20 cities, was Waters' first full-scale tour in twelve years. Seats for several shows almost immediately sold-out, and more than a half-dozen shows were moved to larger venues to accommodate the large-scale stage show. Waters did not tour the West Coast at that time.
While Waters said in 1999 radio interviews that he might tour with his own version of "The Wall" in early 2000, Columbia Records, Waters' current label, said that those plans have been tabled.
Capitol Records, Pink Floyd 's label, still plans to release a two-CD live "Wall" album on Feb. 8. The album is called "Is There Anybody Out There: The Wall Live" and includes material from 1980-81 concerts in London, New York, Los Angeles and Dortmund, Germany.
Waters said on his website that he will start working on a new recording in February. The project will have a relationship to a series of philosophical questions that Waters has posted on the site, along with discussion boards for users to express their views. The questions concern human equality, the meaning of individual existence, personal responsibility, and the potential religious and spiritual dimensions of the Internet.
