Erasure unplugs for brief US outing
British duo Erasure backs its forthcoming acoustic album, "Union Street," with a series of unplugged shows this spring.
The pair--Vince Clarke and Andy Bell--launches the acoustic run with a mid-to-late-April stretch of European dates, then crosses the pond for May shows in 10 US cities, including San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York City. Details about the Euro trek are posted at Erasure's website, and the itinerary for the US stretch is included below.
The roadwork follows the April 18 release of "Union Street," Clarke and Bell's first full-length acoustic album. The disc features retooled versions of previously released Erasure tracks performed in a "country-and-western/acoustic style," according to info posted at Erasure's website.
"It was great going back through those songs, some of which I hadn't listened to properly since we made them," Clarke said in a statement. "Suddenly, you heard some of the naivety that was there in the first place."
Streaming audio of three of the forthcoming album's 11 cuts are posted at the group's website.
"Union Street" follows last year's "Nightbird," which is the group's most recent collection of all-new material.
