Briefly: Lil Jon, Jaheim, 50 Foot Wave, Mariah Carey
After a lengthy dispute with the label, Lil Jon has re-signed with TVT Records. He'll release his first solo album, dubbed "Crunk Rock," later this year, according to a press release.
"After a long battle and negotiations with TVT, we worked out our differences," Lil Jon said in a statement. "TVT cut the check and now it's time for me to get back to work."
Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz have released three albums since 1997, the most recent of which was 2004's "Crunk Juice."
Jaheim 's "Ghetto Classics" enters The Billboard 200 at No. 1 this week, ending the Jack Johnson & Friends "Curious George" companion album's one-week stay atop the U.S. chart.
"Curious George" slips to No. 2 this week, while Barry Manilow's "The Greatest Songs of the Fifties holding steady at No. 3.
Mary J. Blige's "The Breakthrough" slips two places to No. 4, an Andrea Bocelli's "Amore" falls one notch to No. 5.
50 Foot Wave , a band led by Kristin Hersh of Throwing Muses, has issued a free, five-song EP--dubbed "Free Music"--via its website.
"With 'Free Music,' 50 Foot Wave is seeking new earballs," the site reads. "We thought it'd be interesting to ask for your energy and enthusiasm rather than your money and see what happens. To that end, please share this music in any and every way you see fit. Burn CDs, post the mp3s, seed Torrents--whatever's comfortable for you."
Mariah Carey has launched a jewelry and accessory line dubbed "Glamorized," which is available exclusively at Claire's boutique stores.
