Rolling Stones to hit movie screens with Rio 'bang'

Fans of The Rolling Stones who have somehow managed to miss their live appearances over the last year will be able to catch the band's upcoming Rio De Janeiro show on movie screens across the US.

The Feb. 18 performance at Rio's Copacabana Beach will be filmed, and the footage will be unveiled on 150 screens on Feb. 28. Movie tickets will go on sale Feb. 10 at noon Pacific Time at participating theaters and online via Big Screen Concerts. A list of venues screening the film can be found at the above link.

Stones fans can also listen in live during the actual performance on AOL Music and XM Satellite Radio.

The band is billing its Rio performance as "the world's biggest rock concert." The show will be free to the public and is expected to draw an audience of more than one million people to Copacabana Beach. According to a press release on the Stones' website, a crew of nearly 1,500 will be required to build the stage and produce the event.

The Stones are still touring behind their latest album, last year's "A Bigger Bang." "Rarities: 1971-2003"--a set that consists of 16 remixes, rare b-sides and hard-to-find live recordings--surfaced last November, and is available at traditional retailers as well as Starbucks outlets.
