Paul McCartney, Kelly Clarkson, Ciara join Grammys

The ever-growing list of artists scheduled to perform at next week's Grammy Awards ceremony now includes the legendary Paul McCartney , who, despite laying claim to 13 trophies over the years, has never performed at the annual event.

In addition to McCartney, organizers announced Thursday (2/2) that "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson would also perform, and that R&B singer Ciara will join previously announced artists Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Will.I.Am of The Black Eyed Peas, Maroon 5, John Legend, Joss Stone, Robert Randolph and Devin Lima during a tribute to Sly & the Family Stone.

McCartney could add as many as three more trophies to his collection during next week's ceremony; the singer/songwriter is nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album ("Chaos and Creation in the Back Yard"), as well as Best Male Pop Vocal Performance ("Fine Line").

Clarkson is also vying for Best Pop Vocal Album ("Breakaway"), as well as Best Female Pop Vocal Performance ("Since U Been Gone"). Ciara, meanwhile, is up for Best New Artist, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration ("1, 2 Step" featuring Missy Elliott), as well as Best Rap Song and Best Long Form Music Video, both for her guest spot on Elliott's "Lose Control.

As previously reported, the Grammy ceremony will also feature joint performances from Madonna and Gorillaz, U2 and Mary J. Blige, Kanye West and Jamie Foxx, Mariah Carey and Hezekiah Walker & Love Fellowship Choir, and Christina Aguilera with Herbie Hancock.
Individual performances from Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay and Sugarland are also on tap.

Destiny's Child, Chris Brown, Teri Hatcher, Jenna Elfman, James Taylor, Lance Armstrong, Bonnie Raitt and Jennifer Love Hewitt have joined the roster of celebrity presenters, which also includes Michael Buble, Common, Matt Dillon, Queen Latifah, Ludacris, Tom Hanks, Big & Rich and Terrence Howard.

Additional performers, presenters and special segments will be announced soon, according to a press release.

The Grammy Awards will take place Feb. 8 at Los Angeles' Staples Center, and will air live on CBS-TV. In addition to televised coverage, the show will also be supported on radio via the Westwood One radio network, and covered online at Yahoo!'s Grammy Awards website.
