Jenny Lewis hits the road with The Watson Twins
Rilo Kily frontwoman Jenny Lewis supports her debut solo album, "Rabbit Fur Coat," during a soon-to launch tour that will feature the singer/songwriter backed by The Watson Twins.
The threesome will start things off with early February performances in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York, and will then head to Europe before tackling a full-fledged US tour that kicks off in early March and is scheduled to run until the beginning of April. Details are included below.
According to a press release, "Rabbit Fur Coat" was modeled after "the great 'white soul' classics of the past, particularly Laura Nyro and Labelle's seminal 'Gonna Take a Miracle.'"
"That album was always in the back of my mind: if I could just make something that captured the feeling of that record," Lewis said in a statement.
To accomplish that goal, she recruited Kentucky-born sisters Chandra and Leigh Watson as her backing vocalists.
"I'm just so impressed with their instincts as singers and their relationship to my songs," Lewis said of the Watsons. "They were very serious about them."
The title track from "Rabbit Fur Coat" and the cut "Melt Your Heart," are streaming at Lewis's website.
