Dwight Yoakam spreads 'Blame' with more roadwork

Country singer Dwight Yoakam continues rolling out dates for his soon-to-launch 2006 tour, which supports his latest album, "Blame the Vain."

Currently on a break after spending the latter half of 2005 on the road, Yoakam will climb back on his tour bus next month to tackle an itinerary that kicks off Feb. 9 on the West Coast. Most confirmed shows are scheduled for February, March and April, but subsequent dates are scattered through late September. Details are included below.

Released last June, "Blame the Vain" is Yoakam's first album for indie label New West, and marks the first time that he self-produced an album without the aid of a co-producer. The set features the cut "Intentional Heartache," the music video for which Yoakam directed. The clip is streaming at his website, as are audio samples of additional "Blame the Vain" cuts.

Backing Yoakam on "Blame the Vain" are guitarist Keith Gattis, drummer Mitch Marine, bassist Taras Prodaniuk, keyboardist/pedal-steel guitarist Skip Edwards and harmony singers Dave Roe, Jonathan Clark and Timothy B. Schmitt.

Yoakam--who splits his time between music and acting--will turn up on the silver screen at least twice this year. He has roles in the upcoming flicks "Bandidas" and "Land of Canaan," both of which are due out in 2006, though specific release dates have not yet been announced.

Last year, Yoakam was featured in "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada," and also has a cameo in the hit comedy "The Wedding Crashers."
