Yellowcard slotted to headline Virgin Mega Tour
Yellowcard will headline the 2006 version of Virgin Megastores' College Mega tour, the entertainment retailer announced.
Alternative rockers Mae will occupy a support slot for the tour, which is expected to hit 20 cities and begin in April. Dates for the trek have not been finalized. Last year's version of the Mega Tour featured Cake and Gomez, and hit 16 college campuses.
As with last year's event, the tour will feature a daytime "village" on campuses that will include an "Emerging Artist" stage, karaoke booth, games, prizes and demonstrations of electronic gadgets.
A five-piece group from Jacksonville, FL, Yellowcard--which carted away the MTV2 Award at the 2004 Video Music Awards--has been touring in support of its just-released studio offering, "Lights and Sounds." Mae has been providing support for Yellowcard on its recent North American tour dates.
Prior to its Mega Tour duties, Yellowcard is scheduled to embark on a European tour. The band's full European itinerary can be found on its website.
Recorded last spring and summer, "Lights and Sounds" is Yellowcard's fourth studio album, and second for Capitol Records, following 2004's "Where We Stand."
Mae's sophomore effort, "The Everglow," hit stores last March.
