Singer Jewel set to issue new album

Singer/songwriter Jewel has wrapped up work on her sixth studio album, "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland," and has planned a May 2 release date for the disc.

For her first album in three years, Jewel worked with producer Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls). The album follows 2003's "0304," which debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 album chart, the highest chart debut of Jewel's career.

"This is the most autobiographical album I have made since 'Pieces of You,' and I spent a lot of time sequencing it, so that each song sets up the next, like a novel with a beginning, a middle and an end," the singer said in a press release.

"It is the story of my life--from the extreme solitude of Alaska to my first trip to Hollywood--from my rise to fame to the cliche crisis of betrayals by those closest and most dearly trusted."

"Pieces of You," released in 1995, was Jewel's debut studio album.

A video preview of the title track from "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland" will be available Jan. 25 at Jewel's fan club website and then on her public site beginning Jan. 30.

The first single from the new CD, "Again and Again," is slated to arrive on radio playlists Feb. 27.
