Third Day headed 'Wherever You Are' during upcoming tour
Armed with material from their new album, "Wherever You Are," Christian rockers Third Day set out next month on a U.S. tour.
The two-month run kicks off Feb. 16 in Fairfax, VA, and dates are stacked up through mid-April. Details appear below.
Fellow Gospel-rock act The David Crowder Band will hold down the tour's opening slot. The group is backing its September release, "A Collision."
Released in November, Third Day 's "Wherever You Are" debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart, and at No. 8 on The Billboard 200, thanks to first-week sales of about 63,000 copies. The disc features the cut "Cry Out to Jesus," which tops Billboard's latest Hot Christian Songs chart.
"Wherever You Are," which follows 2004's "Wire," is thematically different from its predecessor, according to the band's record-label bio.
"On the last record, we tried to reach people heads," singer Mac Powell said in a statement. "The songs on this album, however, speak to their hearts."
"We lost three family members last year and had a pastor who lost a father," guitarist/songwriter Brad Avery added. "We have friends who endured divorce and others who have fought financial problems. Those difficult sorts of loss and triumph fueled what we wanted to talk about and made the message a little more tangible to our listeners this time."
